Le Banquet des Péchés

Seven figures around a world-table. The eighth throne waits for the visitor.

Around a globe-shaped table draped in white, seven figures crowned in gold embody Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Envy and Pride, each readable by posture alone. An eighth throne remains empty: visitors sit on it, put on a virtual-reality crown-headset and watch wars, famines and violence unfold.

The project was born in front of Hieronymus Bosch's The Seven Deadly Sins at the Prado, and grew from the Gipsoteca of the Villa Medici, its white, frozen, wounded plaster casts. Rome is its natural anchor.

A poem in four cantos, Le Huitième Trône, plays continuously in the room, from Origin to Victory.
