Immersive, evolving installation

La Terre des Frontières

A room floor covered with soil from the world's 195 countries. The borders fade under people's steps.

The floor of an entire room is covered with soil collected in the world's 195 countries, divided by borders drawn in lime, rope or chalk. The names of the countries are projected onto it. With every step, visitors blur the lines and the names: what was fragmented becomes a shared matter, the planet.

On the walls, 195 resin and plexiglass capsules keep a fragment of each soil intact, with the country's name and a keyword: Memory for Armenia, Ornament for Monaco, Disappearance for the Maldives. On the floor, erasure; on the walls, the archive.

The project begins as a performance: a year of travel through the 195 countries to collect the soils. It continues as a book gathering the photographs, a text for each country and a reflection on borders.
